Here is the photography of Bradley and Laura’s Blue Bar Porthtowan wedding. There is nothing quite like a Cornwall Beach wedding.
Married in late June, at the The Blue Bar in Porthtowan. A bar and resturaunt with function room that sits right on the beach. For a beach wedding in Cornwall, you can’t get a location much closer to the beach than this. The Blue Bar serves some very tasty food and has a very relaxed atmosphere which makes it very popular with surfers, locals and holiday makers.
Bradley and Laura wanted the more relaxed documentary style wedding photography with some more formal family photo’s. We started at Leycroft Valley where the whole family had booked in for a mini break during their stay for their Cornwall wedding. The weather was gorgeous throughout the day with just a few Cornish showers thrown in for good measure but certainly not spoiling the day.
After documenting the bridal preperations, I headed to the Blue Bar to get some pictures of the Bradley and his best man as well as the guests arriving and enjoying a drink before the wedding ceremony.
Laura arrived in a convertable VW Beetle with her dad and bridesmaids then headed in to speak with the registrars. Bradley was suddenly looking quite nervous as the ceremony was soon to begin.
Getting into position, I captured the bridal party entrance and the ceremony using a variety of lenses for a variety of angles and compositions. All captured well, and with Bradley and Laura now husband and wife we headed outside onto the beach for some natural and relaxed portraits as they went for a quiet stroll away from the crowds. Family formals were taken at this point as well before everyone headed inside for a barbeque style wedding breakfast.
As the evening started to draw in, it was clear there was going to be a lovely sunset so we all decided to head back out and take a short 2 minute walk up the cliffside right next to the beach. Lit with my Profoto studio power flash units we were able to get some striking and romantic portraits of both the bride and groom with the sun setting over the sea.
It was a great day spent with 2 great people in a lovely location with perfect weather.
